Yes. The extension itself is free to install. You'll need a HostMyVideo account (free tier available) for recordings to upload to your library, transcripts, AI chapters, and share links.
Which Chrome versions and platforms are supported?
The extension runs on Chrome 109+ on macOS, Windows, Linux, and ChromeOS. It also works in Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera since they support Chrome Web Store extensions.
Does the extension work offline?
Recording works offline because everything happens locally in your browser. Once you reconnect, the recording uploads to your workspace and the AI pipeline runs.
What permissions does the extension request and why?
Six permissions, each tied to a specific feature: activeTab and tabCapture for tab recording, offscreen so recording survives popup close, storage for your saved recording-mode preference, downloads as a local-save fallback if upload fails, and cookies (scoped to hostmyvideo.io only) so your recording uploads to the right account.
Where are my recordings stored?
Recordings upload directly to your HostMyVideo workspace, which is backed by Bunny.net's encrypted storage and global CDN. The extension never sends recordings or any data to third parties.
