Video hosting for private-practice therapy

Psycho-education video, without a Cerebral ad before every play.

For therapists, counselors, and small private practices building a public educational library, running group workshops, or welcoming new clients with intake videos. Ad-free, tracker-free, embeddable everywhere.

Direct answer

Q: What's the best video hosting for therapists?

A: HostMyVideo is a good fit for the marketing, educational, and workshop-recording side of a therapy practice — psycho-education videos, meet-the-therapist intros, group program content, new-client welcome videos. It is NOT appropriate for identifiable session recordings or content containing ePHI on standard plans (Enterprise offers a BAA for adjacent uses). Playback is ad-free and tracker-free, which matters when your psycho-ed video shouldn't be followed by a competitor's Cerebral / BetterHelp ad. Public content ranks in Google via VideoObject schema; workshop content stays behind PRIVATE signed URLs from your membership platform.

Where private-practice therapists use HostMyVideo

Psycho-education content

Public explainer videos on anxiety, trauma responses, attachment styles, coping skills — indexed by Google and cited by people looking for a therapist. Auto-transcripts + chapters make the content accessible and searchable.

Group workshops + course content

Members-only private streaming for group programs, DBT skills workshops, parenting courses. PRIVATE video with signed URLs from your membership platform (Kajabi / Teachable / Circle) so paying attendees see the content, no one else does.

New-client welcome + intake videos

A warm 90-second 'what to expect in our first session' video reduces intake anxiety and improves show-up rates. Send via email or embed on your Contact / Getting Started page.

Therapist intro + specialty videos

'Meet the therapist' videos on your Psychology Today profile page equivalent — VideoObject schema helps rank for 'trauma therapist Portland' style local queries. Ad-free playback means no random insurance ad plays before your intro.

Ethical scope

What HostMyVideo is (and isn't) for

Good fit: psycho-education videos for the general public, meet-the-therapist intros, group workshop recordings (with attendee consent), new-client welcome videos, CE course recordings, referral-partner training.

NOT for: individual therapy session recordings, videos containing identifiable client information, ePHI, or anything requiring HIPAA BAA coverage on standard plans. For those, use a purpose-built EHR (SimplePractice, TherapyNotes) or a HIPAA-BAA-signed telehealth platform (Doxy.me).

Consent + take-down: One-click delete removes any video from every embed and from search-engine cache. Important for workshop recordings where attendees can withdraw consent.

See our DPA for the technical detail on encryption + subprocessors + regional storage.

Therapist video hosting FAQ

Is HostMyVideo HIPAA compliant for a therapy practice?

Standard plans (Free through Business) are not covered by a BAA and are NOT appropriate for videos containing identifiable patient/client sessions, ePHI, or session recordings. They ARE appropriate for the marketing + educational side of a practice: psycho-education videos, workshop recordings for the general public, meet-the-therapist intros, welcome videos, group-program content where attendees have consented to being recorded. For session-recording use cases, use a HIPAA-BAA-covered platform like SimplePractice, TherapyNotes, or Doxy.me. HostMyVideo Enterprise offers a signed BAA for practices that need it for adjacent uses.

Can I put my group program behind a paywall?

Yes. Set video visibility to PRIVATE and require signed URLs from your membership platform. Every major group-therapy platform (Kajabi, Teachable, Podia, Circle, Mighty Networks) supports iframe embeds. Your existing paywall gates access; HostMyVideo delivers the actual video.

What about ethical considerations for testimonial videos?

Most licensing boards prohibit or heavily restrict client testimonials in mental-health marketing (APA Ethics Code Standard 5.05, and state-specific rules). That constraint is on YOU as the therapist, not on the hosting platform — HostMyVideo hosts whatever you upload. If you're doing testimonials, we recommend: general 'my experience with the practice' testimonials from graduated group-workshop attendees (usually allowed), not from current 1-on-1 therapy clients. Always check your state licensing board's advertising rules before publishing.

Can I embed on my SimplePractice / TherapyNotes / Owl Practice client portal?

Depends on the portal. SimplePractice supports raw HTML in some client-facing message templates and psychoeducational-resource areas — the HostMyVideo iframe embed works there. TherapyNotes has a more locked-down client portal; for that you'd typically link to the HostMyVideo watch page (/v/{id}) instead of embedding. Contact us if you have a specific portal in mind — we've probably run into it.

Do you offer a discount for solo practitioners or small group practices?

The Free plan already covers a lot for a solo practitioner just starting to build a video library (5 videos, 10 GB storage). For paid tiers, we offer 25% off annual plans for licensed mental-health professionals with an active state license number. Email support@querywing.com with your license info and we'll apply the discount.

What if a workshop attendee later withdraws consent to appear in a recording?

One-click delete removes the video from every embed within seconds and from public search-engine cache within days. The video file is soft-deleted immediately and permanently purged within 30 days per our DPA. If you need to edit the person out but keep the rest of the workshop, you'll need to re-edit and re-upload — HostMyVideo doesn't have in-platform editing (yet).
